This is a very nice laptop.
The battery life isnt the best, but that's because it's a powerful laptop.
I was debating on getting this or the Eee PC T91 Touchscreen that my roommate got. I am glad I made this choice. His screen is too small, only has 16GB ssd, and touchscreen isnt as nice. On the other hand, his battery life is longer, and his laptop has no moving parts (no hdd or fan). This also has a much better cpu (I would have preferred Intel, but AMD is good too), and a lot more RAM. Mine is better.
I really like the fingerprint scanner. My last laptop had one, but the location on this one is better. Everything works great in Windows 7 RC. Waiting for my upgrade from Vista to 7 rmt, but I know everything will work fine.
I also bought the 3yr warranty plan from squaretrade. I would definitely recommend getting that as well if you buy this laptop, or any laptop. You cant beat 3 yrs for $100, especially with a touchscreen that could mess up on you. Dont take a $900 chance, and feel secure.

I'm in the navy, so a smaller laptop that swivels around to make a tablet while laying down in your bunk comes in handy.
I like the stylus pen which comes in handy for small links or buttons that your finger is too big to pinpoint on the screen. All the features of this touchscreen laptop are nice, but its performance is hampered due to all these features.
I'm sure with a faster processor, all would be solved, but this one is a bit slow. Start up time is slower, even out of the box.
No other gripes except the speed. I almost bought a mini-laptop, but i liked the internal DVD and the touchs/swivel monitor. I told myself I would get a IBOOK next, i guess I'll be waiting again for MAC to come out with their own touchscreen computer.
PS The HP touchsmart PC's are nicer and faster, I owned one as well.

Hp made a good system, the machine is doing all I expected it to do. I only have one complaint and that is the false advertising from Amazon.com. I double checked the system before purchase and ensured a s-video port was installed from the zoomed product images as of this date still being displayed on there order site for the exact same price. However, this feature was not installed on my system which was part of my main reason for purchase. The future does not look good for shopping for electronics on Amazon.com again, if what they display is not what they are selling!!

This is to warn any potential buyers of the TX2 line of laptops. HP has severely limited the end-user options in the bios of this computer so much so that it only performs at 1.1GHz on battery power. You heard that correctly. You cannot play 720P video while on battery. You cannot get over 1.1GHz out of this computer on battery---at all. The bios has nothing configurable, and even with the proper settings maxed out in the OS, you will NEVER see anything higher than 1.1GHz.
This is highly frustrating. Do not purchase this tablet if you expect to have full processing power whenever you want it.

I bought the Tx2 1275dx model, which looks identical to this 1270. I'm not going to keep it and I am going to get another computer, so for me it was a bad purchase. The computer does have many very good features, has a good webcam, mic, touch screen, swivel, good customer service from HP, lots of good things. But, the computer is very loud, and I just can't live with it. The cooling fan noise is too loud for me. Also the touch screen has a matte finish, and just isn't sharp enough for me.
I wish I'd done a little more research before buying. Wouldn't buy it again.
